Hello! Hope everyone is having a good week so far. I'm doing my best to enjoy being lazy before school starts back up in less than 2 weeks :(. But with school comes a paycheck again so its not all bad!
Today I have for you the Sakura Matsuri collection from Rainbow Honey. I ordered this collection when I preordered the Equestria collection and I'm so glad I had her change my order to include it! This collection will be going on sale this Saturday, August 18th, at her website, Rainbow Honey. So I decided to post my swatches of it now before they go on sale to help everyone decide what to buy! Pictures all under the cut.
First up I have Wistful. This is a very pretty and delicate color, described as being a blushing green with shimmer. I don't see it as a green, it looks more yellow then green to me, I would call it a champagne color. But the shimmer in it is really pretty. You don't see it in the shade, but in the light it comes across as a light purple/pink shimmer. It gives it that little something extra that makes it special. Here I have 2 coats, no top coat, and it went on great but the formula was a little thick. Still easy enough to work with, and I think a drop or 2 of thinner will make it perfect. I could only get one picture that showed both the color, and a little bit of the shimmeryness to this. I think my camera hated the shimmer because even in full sunlight where the shimmer was very noticable, my camera just wouldn't pick it up :(
Over Wistful, I layered 2 coats of Sakura Matsuri. This one is lovely little pink and white flower blossoms with holo glitter in a clear base. These little flowers are so adorable! Somehow I managed to not notice that this was part of the collection when I ordered it so imagine my surprise when I received my package with this in it! I looked back and then realized that yes indeed there was 5 colors of this collection I paid for! Goes to show I should pay more attention lol. The formula was thick again, but for glitters thats how I prefer it! I had no trouble getting the blossoms you see out of the bottle and didn't really have to do any placing, it pretty much went on just like this. This is 2 coats, no top coat.
Next up is Ephemeral, which I have reviewed previously here if you want to check out that post as well. I am going to use the same picture since it is better than the new ones I took lol. This is a pretty and delicate pink with shimmer that changes the color depending on how you look at it. This is 2 coats, same formula as Wistful, with no top coat:
Over this I layered Hanami. This is a clear base with iridescent glitter with a couple different shades of pink glitter as well. Same formula as Sakura Matsuri, thick but easily workable. The glitter was easy to get out, and I got a lot out at once. I just brushed on 1 coat and this is what I got:
And last but not least, I have Koi Pond. I have to say, if you can only buy one polish from this collection, make it this one! It is amazing. Koi Pond is a clear base with many different colors of glitter. I see orange, black, light blue, dark blue, and green in all different sizes and shapes. While the other colors in this collection are all sweet and spring like, this one stands out with the darker colors. Here I have 1 coat, with 2 on my index finger (I wiped the brush off too much the first time, oops!), with no top coat:
The color I layered it over is Revlon Colorstay in Marmalade. I used three coats of it, and I could still see a bit of nail line, but for layering I wasn't worried about it. Marmalade is a red leaning orange, but it isn't as red as my picture makes it seam, it is more color accurate above under Koi Pond. Alone all my camera could see of it was the red. Very nice color, good formula and easy application.
So there you have the Sakura Matsuri collection by Rainbow Honey. Mark your calendars for August 18th when it goes on sale!
Are there any of these colors you want to have??
Great swatches! I was wondering whether or not I should buy the collection since RH just put out the presale for them. I like Hanami a lot!!
