Dollish Polish: Mario collection and Dolly DOES Polish swatches

Today I received my order of the Dollish Polish Mario collection! They are so amazing, and the shipping was super fast. They shipped on Monday, I didn't expect them til next week. But I'm not complaining! As soon as I opened the box I started thinking about what to layer these over for swatches. It was a couple hours before I could actually sit down and look through my stash, but when I did an idea came to me. I started pulling out my Dolly DOES Polish collection, and wouldn't you know, the colors seemed to match up fairly well! I don't know if she planned it that way or if it was a happy coincidence, but I will let you be the judge of if it works for layering after the cut! Image heavy, you have been warned! But first, the bottles (and why yes, I do have a Mario place mat! Huge Mario fan here):

Before I go into the different layerings, I want to comment on formula on both collections up here, since its all pretty consistent. The glitters are perfect, sorta thick but packed full of glitter so there isn't really any fishing needed (except slightly for the stars in Mario and Luigi), and they all stay put on the nail well with no placement needed. The Dolly DOES colors are thinner than the glitters and a couple are kinda sheer, but still very easy to work with. I am really happy with the formula on both collections, as I have been with all of Dollish Polish's colors.

So first up I wanted to do It's A Me, Mario! since he's, well, Mario! And I have wanted that one the longest since I kept missing out on it when it had been released before. Since there are 9 Dolly DOES colors and only 8 Mario, It's A Me, Mario! gets to do double duty. First I paired it with Lipstick Around Your Dipstick. Here is it alone:

This is a very nice red with glass fleck. I have said before that I don't wear red that often, but this one I love and will wear a lot of in the future. This is 2 coats. Then I layered 2 coats of It's A Me, Mario! over it:

It's A Me, Mario! is a clear base packed with different size red and blue glitters and holo stars. I was worried at first that the red would get lost over this color but there is enough difference that they can still be seen, more so in person that in the photo.

Next up is A Bad Case of Blue Balls:

This one is a nice royal blue with glass fleck. I love this one, as I do most if not all blues. This is 3 coats, it was slightly more sheer. Then again, I layered 2 coats of It's A Me, Mario! over it:

Same as above, I was afraid the blue would get lost but it shows a bigger difference between the shade in person. I really like both of these combos. Here are the 3 bottles together:

Lipstick Around Your Dipstick came out way more orange here than it is, since its red not orange!

Next up we have Go Luigi! I started with 3 coats of Slippery When Wet, and aqua blue with glass fleck. Very pretty color, here it is alone:

On top of that came 2 coats of Go Luigi, a clear base with different size green and blue glitter and those holo stars again. I just love the stars lol.

And the 2 bottles together:

Then we have a combo that had me laughing to myself because of the names. I just love all the Dolly DOES names, but this combo seemed kinda wrong lol. First we have Dining at the Pink Taco, a lovely pink with glass fleck. This is 3 coats:

And then, over Dining at the Pink Taco, I layered 2 coats of A Peachy Princess. Poor Princess Peach seems too sweet for the base color lol. But what do I know, maybe she likes to get down with the best of them! Anyway, I thought this was going to end up being my favorite combo, but it was beaten out by one of the later ones. A Peachy Princess is a clear base with pink glitter, both shiny and matte in different shapes and sizes and holo glitter!

And the bottles:

Baby Gravy is a pearly white glass fleck, and this one took 3 coats. This one I liked more than I thought I would, but I'm not sure if I will wear this alone.

Over this one I layered 2 coats of Toad-ally Awesome, a clear base packed with multi size white matte glitter, and blue, yellow, and red matte glitter in different sizes. I like this combo a lot.

Bottles:

Skeet, Skeet, Skeet is a yellow glass fleck. This one took 3 coats, and I was surprised I liked it since I don't care for yellow. Not sure if it looks good on me, makes my hands look red, but I don't care lol. I will wear it anyway.

Over this one I put 1 coat (yep, this one just took 1) of Dino-mite Yoshi. Yoshi is a clear base with all matte glitter: light green, red, bright green, white and orange. This is the one that overtook the Taco Princess as my favorite combo, which surprised me being yellow! I just loved how this one looked all together

Bottles:

Toss My Salad is up next, which is a lime green glass fleck. This one took 3 coats

Over this one I used 2 coats of 1-UP, a clear base with green matte glitter with white squares, hexs and bar glitters.

Bottles:

The Walk of Shame is a purple glass fleck. This was one of the most sheer, this took 4 coats. I love this one:

Over this I put Wicked Wario, a clear base with ultra fine purple matte glitter with yellow, green and white glitters.

Bottles:

And last we have Check Out Those Sweaterpuffs. This is an orange glass fleck, and it took 4 coats as well. I really like this one, it reminds me of a creamsicle.

2 coats of The Koopa King went over it, a clear base with yellow matte glitter, with red and green glitter, black bar glitter, as well as holo glitter! This one is great.

Bottles:

So there we have it, my swatches of both the Dollish Polish Mario collection and Dolly DOES polish collection. I really like all the combos, I think they work really well together. What do you think? I for one love every single Mario polish and am so glad I got a hold of them.

I highly recommend checking out Dollish Polish, both her and her polishes are amazing, you can't go wrong with any of them! She is sold out of the Mario collection as of right now, but I believe the Dolly DOES collection still has some available. You can find Dollish Polish sold in a couple places: HERE at her store and HERE at Llarowe.

  1. I am really disappointed with the collection :( I thought they would be jam packed with glitter but they don't give the coverage I like personally :(

    1. Awww, I'm the opposite and I like a little less coverage of the glitter. These have perfect coverage for me.
